Jay Cochrane travelled to Shanghai, China in 1996 for the longest and highest nighttime skywalk over the Pudong District during the Shanghai Tourism Festival. The festival introduced the newest district of the city over a seven-day celebration, September 21 - 28, with Jay's skywalk as the premier event. His figure was visible in the sky from miles away including a special party at the Pearl of the Orient Tower.

The night before his walk, we went to the top of the unfinished Bao'an Tower on the 38th floor and Jay walked out ten feet to feel the wire. It was an intimate moment overlooking the streets below as Jay moved back and forth on the nearly invisible cable.
